From January 22nd to February 1st,2025, the Bathurst Company[1] embarked on a unique and transformative spiritual experience during the 10-day Prayer initiative under the theme "When we pray," which deepened our understanding of Jesus' prayer in Matthew 6 vv9-13[2]. It was a time of spiritual renewal, fellowship, and deepening our faith together.
Despite starting later than the specific date from the NAD due to the installation of our new pastor, Jacqueline Emile, who joined us on January 18th, anticipation filled the air as members committed to coming together in prayer. The new format voted by the church board, under the guidance of our new pastor, was a blessing for our church.
Each day started with a daily meditation video at 8:00 on our Facebook group[3]. The pastor's nine daily meditation videos from the 10-day resources[4] provided focused moments for reflection and connection with God, inviting us to grow closer to God and one another.
Complementing the daily meditation, the pastor's seven Facebook Live sessions were not just sessions but enlightening experiences. Held from 12:15 to 12:30[5], these sessions provided spiritual practices to enhance our prayer life, leaving us with a deeper understanding of prayer.
The pastor and two church members held eight dedicated prayer meetings throughout the ten days. These meetings, where all members gathered via Zoom for 45 minutes, were not just about prayers but about spiritual renewal. Filled with prayers for personal requests and intercessory prayers, many of us experienced a renewed sense of purpose in our faith.
As part of our efforts to nurture our prayer life, members were challenged daily to stay engaged by weaving prayer into their lives through daily challenges. These challenges, such as praying at an unusual time or reaching out to others to pray, underscored the significance of accompanying our prayers with specific and daily actions. The culmination of our 10 Days of Prayer was a special communion service on February 1st. This service allowed us to reflect on Jesus's sacrifice on the cross.
The church's remarkable participation underscored the strength found in united prayer. We look forward to future events that will continue to inspire our growth in faith and unity.
